The barn quilt pattern in the background is a design that traditionally is thought to bring good luck, protect livestock from harm, and bless harvests. The Hereford and Hereford cross cattle are my favorite; I grew up seeing a lot of them. The ear tags hold meaning; 1606 = growing up in Lexington, the original area code was 606 before it was switched, a nod to the past. 859 = the current area code for central Kentucky and a nod to the present. 5325 = the house number of the farm where I grew up and a place that shaped who I am today.
